Join us to hear KEN FULMER, current IIBA Board Vice Chair and Philadelphia Chapter President, give his presentation from the 2014 BBC!

Ken initially gave this presentation at the 2014 Building Business Capability Conference, the annual conference of the IIBA.  The presentation focuses on what it takes to create a Business Case that will justify a project or program for an organization. The overall objective is to show how to create a brilliant and convincing business case.  You will learn what elements should be present in any business case and what roles each of the contributors to the business case plays, including the business sponsor, the Business Analyst, the Project Manager, and others.

The core of the presentation will examine what is a convincing business case, how to go about putting one together, and on how to present it, including some model templates, and table of content ideas. It covers some specifics based on the type of project, and suggests different economic standards to be used based on the project type. The presentation will also discuss the strategic and other key elements of the justification, including the most important element of all – how to communicate to an executive team the fundamental business rationale, that includes strategy, ROI, risks, and overall value.

This work is based on actual usage/ case study at a major oil company in implementing an improved investment model for all projects, from building refinery units to implementing major infrastructure and application projects for the business.

About the speaker:

Ken Fulmer is a senior executive with over 25 years experience in the IT industry. He was an executive with Sunoco, Inc. for 20+ years, including being Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he had responsibility for the PMO, and the BA Center of Excellence for the organization, as well responsibility for strategy and architecture. Ken was also the practice director for ERP implentation, Business Intelligence systems, Web Services, and Executive Information Systems. After Sunoco, Ken became the CIO for another oil company and oversaw the implementation of a new infrastructure platform, and a move to SAP applications. Ken is currently running a small consulting firm, specializing in executive advisory services. He is the Philadelphia chapter president for IIBA, as well as a board member for IIBA international. He is also on the board of 2 other non-profits. Ken has an undergraduate degree in economics, and an MBA in management information systems.
